I’ve been crazy about concrete lately, whether it’s DIY projects I want to add to my to-do list or simply admiring concrete home decor elements. Concrete is a super affordable and durable material that looks great polished and unpolished depending on the look you’re going for–clean or a bit grittier.

Today I’m sharing ten of my favorite concrete DIYs and home decor elements. But before you start any DIYs or shopping trips, let’s chat for a bit about the difference between concrete and cement. The two terms are often use interchangeably, but they aren’t the same thing.

Concrete is a composite material made of water, aggregate (crushed stone, rock, and sand), and cement. The aggregate and cement are mixed with water, and then this mixture solidifies to form concrete.

Cement is a fine powder made of limestone and other minerals. When you add water to cement, it triggers a chemical process that will harden the mixture. Cement can be used alone, but concrete cannot be made without cement.

Got it? Alright! Let’s move on to see some concrete inspiration!

This one isn’t a DIY and would probably be really difficult to DIY, but I couldn’t not include it. The design is amazing! Toilet paper is an annoying thing to have to store, especially in small spaces. This turns your toilet paper into art. I never thought I’d say something like that.
